DRAP Students Visit ZhaoKe Ophthalmology in Nansha

Nansha, Guangzhou – A group of DRAP students recently stepped out of the classroom and onto the production floor with an educational visit to ZhaoKe Ophthalmology in Nansha, coordinated by the HKUST ISPE Student Chapter. The field trip provided a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the rigorous standards of pharmaceutical manufacturing, focusing specifically on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Hosted by ZhaoKe’s teams, the visit was designed to bridge the gap between theoretical regulatory knowledge and real-world application. As a specialist in ophthalmic drugs, ZhaoKe operates under strict sterile protocols—making it an ideal case study for future regulators and pharmacovigilance experts.

The visit emphasized how every manufacturing decision affects drug safety and regulatory compliance. For DRAP students—who will eventually draft dossiers, inspect facilities, or monitor adverse events—understanding production realities is invaluable.

As the pharmaceutical landscape grows more complex, hands-on experiences like this ensure that tomorrow’s drug safety and regulatory professionals are not just rule-followers, but informed, practical problem-solvers.
